SUBANG JAYA: 13 School of Biosciences (SOB) students have set up a booth to help Taylor’s University (TU) student to overcome social anxiety in front of the Student Life Centre (SLC).
SOB student Harshini Mistry, 20, said, “I realised that a lot of TU students find it hard to make friends on campus but they are not willing to take the first step.”
Harshini and her team decided to introduce a new medium for TU students to make new friends.
“We had a box with two sections; a drop box and a pickup box. One person would write their name, contact details and a brief about themselves on a sticky note,” Harshini said.
She added that students can proceed to pick up the sticky notes and contact the person using the details acquired.
School of Architecture, Build and Design student Tan En Hui, 21, said, “This project is really interesting as I get to meet new people by picking up a random sticky note.”
Taylor’s Business School student Yeo Mei, 20, said “I think it is not easy to make a new friend in TU because some people including myself are quite shy to approach people.”
Yeo said this project gave her more courage to start a conversation with a friend.
