SUBANG JAYA: First female racer and her team from Taylor’s University is going to represent Malaysia to take part in Formula Society of Automotive Engineers – Australasia (SAE-A) 2015 at Australia from 10 until 13 December.
School of Engineering student Farah Danial, 23, and her Taylor’s Racing Team (TRT) members will be representing Malaysia in the Formula SAE-A 2015 for the first time.
“I am the first female racer to be representing Taylor’s alongside with my team mates,” Farah said.
Formula SAE-A 2015 is a prestigious competition where universities worldwide are encouraged to participate in. This competition is mainly focusing on how engineering students design, manufacture, test and race their specialist car.
“The concept of the car is based on an open wheel race car with affordable pricing for a weekend racer,” said Manager of Sponsorship Department, Leroy Liaw, 23
Liaw adds, “It is simple to operate and fully customizable for beginners to operate and have fun with it.”
The new car is three times more powerful compared to previous cars so it requires a more compact and powerful chassis.
Farah said that due to her height, the paddle box and headrest of the car was designed to be adjustable for different heights.
“But of course, this is also to abide by the rules of the competition,” Farah added.
Farah said she is scared and exciting at the same time. However, with all the motivation and encouragement that she got from her team, she will definitely do this racing with her best.
Farah said that the best part is being in TRT because this team has encouraged and motivated her to participate in this competition.
However, TRT and the first female racer have made a new achievement for TU.
