Throughout my secondary school life, I did not take my education seriously compared to now when I am in university. During my school years, when teachers assigned homework to me, I would usually do it at the last minute because I did not felt the sense of urgency. Now, I would usually revise one week earlier to prepare and score a good grade for a test, assignment or quiz.
I realised that studying in university requires great time management to complete all the tasks and assignments on time. I do whatever it takes to not get distracted in classes. I understood that sidetracking may lead to failure. Moreover, university life is as not easy as it seems. I am uncertain whether I did the assignment correctly even with detailed guidelines given. As time passed by, I began to realise that my friends are my main support system, whereby they would encourage me to not give up and guide me to do better in the assignments.
It took a lot sacrifice, calmness and willingness to learn. Experiencing these transformations has changed my whole persona. Now I would make a point to attend most of the classes, refer to lecturer’s notes and be more attentive during lectures. However, not every journey or transition will be smooth and there are bound to be pitfalls. Sometimes, I scored poorly in my assignments, but my lecturers have provided me with useful and kind advice that encouraged me to try harder in achieving good grades in the future.
Eventually, my results have improved and I am satisfied with the outcomes. I felt good seeing my improvements. I decided to work even harder in my final semester so that I could maintain or achieve a better result.
There are similarities and differences between secondary school and university life that were reflected throughout my journey. I have gained great amount of wisdom during all the stages. Despite the fact that I may slack sometimes, I know I ought to change and develop my character.
My goals for the near future would be to graduate with a degree and gain some work experience in the broadcast industry. I would also further my studies in Master in Business Administration for a brighter future.
